Blessing Marching French Horn or Mellophone for sale in Clatonia, NE

1 of 1
I have no knowledge of brass instruments. There is a stamp on the mouthpiece tube that shows -400 and perhaps a bit of the letter M before the dash, almost impossible to see so research tells me this is probably a Blessing M-400 Marching French Horn. Research tells me that it MAY also be called a mellophone so I listed it both ways. It was sold to me as a flugelhorn which it is definitely not. The finish is in great condition with a little brassing on the mouthpiece tube and a spot of brassing on the valve closest to the mouthpiece. There are light scratches and a couple of BB sized dents. No attempt was made to polish it for the photos. The valves are very free and snap right back when released with no hesitation. The case is serviceable, interior is in great shape. The tolex was abraded in many spots so I touched it up. It has the Blessing logo. One corner metal protector is missing a tack and is loose. The plastic binding is missing about an inch or so otherwise it's intact with a few broken stitches. I don't know the key but many were made in Bb and some in F or Eb; I have no way to tell. I did get a few notes out of it (I'm not a player!) and they were indeed warm and mellow. All in all it is a beautiful instrument in good condition. I'm listing it at a third of the new price. The mouthpiece is small and it includes the music holder. Be sure this is what you want because I don't accept returns. Sales to USA only.
